well, i have officially started!  There are three reasons why i have joined...

1). Gives me something to do while Jon is running.

2) So i don't almost pass out from running up the stairs.

3) Mostly, because everyone cool is doing it!

So today I ran my first run of my training...(any ideas what i should train for that is in the spring?) I took the jogging stroller and we ran a little less then 3 miles.  I felt pretty good at the end!!  let's just say i didn't pass out.

I am trying to convince Jon to set up a workout plan for me since i have no idea what i am doing??

Yeah! Check out the Discussion Forum under News. There are a bunch of ladies doing Moab in the spring. It's a great race and a great vacation. Hopefully we'll get to run together one of these days.

From Lybi on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 21:00:20

Yea Marci!!! A big ol' welcome to the blog to you! What a great picture, and I can't believe you've already run a marathon!?! That makes you a lot more experienced than, well, me for example. Did you run it before you met Jon? Being married to a super great runner can be intimidating--but it doesn't mean you're not awesome too!

Happiest day! Marci joined! Yeah!

Nice job doing 3 miles. Now I am worried about running with you tomorrow!

Did 2 tonight and was a little :) tired at the end. Go easy on me. I have a feeling you are going to do very well training.

You should look up the discussion forum, there is a post for people wanting to do the Moab 1/2 or 5 miler and the ogden 1/2. I am thinking of shooting for the Ogden 5k? 1/2 sounds too big for me just yet.

I just read Jon's crazy schedule in the discussion forum and decided that you two need to let us watch Kinley so you can have a night out. You have a night this week we could do it?

Beautiful picture of your family BTW.

From Mik'L on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 21:20:08

Glad to have you join! Welcome to the blog! This is so much fun to get everyone on here! I definitely think you should do the Moab 5 miler or half with us in March.

Cody-i tried to write the whole "official" name but not enough room...

bethany-yeah for tommorrow...bright and early!!

From marci on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 21:36:07

lybi-well i barely finished the marathon, in fact i barely tell people my time...in fact i don't even think i know my exact time. I ran it after being married to jon for a year because i was sick of waiting for him to get home from a run, so i started running myself.

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 22:49:59

Welcome to the blog! Did you mean to have a template that logs no miles, or was that a mistake? If it was a mistake, you can fix it using the Change Template menu, or if it is too hard, I can fix it for you.

From Jon on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 22:55:50

Yeah, my wife joined! Welcome to the blog, honey!

From callzee on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 23:01:50

Welcome to the blog! So does that make one more fast runnig chick in Moab? If you do join us no fair showing up all us girls that have been traing much longer than you! You had a very good start today!!!

From Michelle on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 23:03:51

Oops, the above Callzee comment was from me... I was on my daughters blog!

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 23:05:07

For the workout plan, keep it simple. If 3 miles a day feels like something you can do 6 days a week, keep doing that for the next two-three weeks, after that, re-evaluate based on how you are feeling.

From Logan on Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 09:46:45

Love the picture of the family. I didn't recognize Jon with his cheesy smile and hair combed! Very GQ!

From Bethany on Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 10:25:15

I agree with Logan. I recognized Jon, but he doesnt look like himself. We will just say it is the distortion from the internet...

so i was suppose to wake up this morning and go running with Bethany!  well., i sort of stood her up.  Sorry!  Once i realized that i would be about 10 minutes late i just went jogging with the stroller around Providence. (a lot easier then trying to stuff in in the car)

We ran about 2.5 miles.  it felt great yet my knees were a little achy.  I just don't want my knees to start hurting like they do every other time i train for something!

i am going to finish Eclipse today!!!!

Comments
From Kim on Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 11:50:19

My knees are what worries me too. I had ran a 1/2 marathon and decided to go for a full. When my training got to 16 miles my knees said, No Way! So I then quit altogether for a year and a half. I don't want that to happen again! If there is advice out there on knees and how to keep them happy, I would love to hear it!

From Bethany on Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 11:55:14

Im proud you went at least! Good job going alone. I still get bored and then my mind starts playing games with my will power. I havent had too much knee trouble yet. (still working on the lungs) that stinks. I hope it works out on its own as you are more consistent.

From Michelle on Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 13:21:35

If your finishing eclipse do you have New Moon close by? Good job getting out by yourself!

From Stacy on Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 19:29:01

Paul had some knee trouble last year. He has some exercises and stretches to help with that. Nice job running by yourself. Maybe you can join Bethany and me Thursday? If it's easier we can come to Providence.

From Mik'L on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 13:29:16

Did you finish Eclipse? I'm re-reading Twilight right now and trying to make myself take it slow. It's easier said than done. New Moon is just as good (maybe better)!

From Jon on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 15:22:21

So my running boss also known as Jon recommended that i should take a day off today.  I was actually kind of excited about it...however, (this is going to be hard to believe) but i kind of missed running.  I know it has only been a few days but i am already liking it. usually it takes a few weeks.

i did some exercises for my knee that my physically therapist from 2 years ago reccommended.  i am going to get them strong.. just you wait and see.

Glad you had a day off, now you can kick me in gear when we run with Stacy.

(BTW, we are planning on planet walk at 5:30. Does that work?)

Glad you have some professional recommendations for your knee. Hope it helps!!! I am too excited to have another partner. Dont want to lose you.

today was the best day running yet!  I got to run with Stacey and Bethany!!!  i was surprised how fast those 2 miles went when there are people to talk to.  They both have the best personalities.  Bethany loves to keep the conversation going and is a happy person. Stacey is sarcastic and pretty funny!

After our 2 mile run we had to talk for a long time...of course...but then Stacey made me leave so i could run home another mile before it got too dark.  I made it home Stacey!!!

i am excited to run with them more.

Glad you made it home! (your a tough girl, I wasnt worried) Thanks for running with me. I really enjoyed having you along, you bring an added spice to our group. Glad i didnt talk you to death (although I tried my hardest). Hope you are available next week too.

From Stacy on Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 20:12:55

I had tons of fun, too. We definitely have to do it more often. (Oh, and I'm glad you didn't get mugged or anything. It is the west side.)

My running coach told me to run to Ryan's Place Park, swing on the swings for one minute, and then run home. I would have to say that swinging was my favorite part of the run.

I didn't even have to take the baby stoller today or yesterday...it has been a long time! It is a long easier with out pushing that extra weight.  It was hard to run alone today, though.  I kept running out of things to think about and it was only 2 miles.  what do all the guys think about during there 26 mile runs.?

Comments
From Bethany on Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 21:33:16

Yeah for no baby stroller! I am with you on the mental blank. My run lacked in any actual thinking as well. Well, except for "why is that old lady going faster than me?" and "ugh"

Good job getting out. When do you want to run next week?

From Sasha Pachev on Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 22:13:09

There was a farmer, had a dog, and BINGO was his name, of course. On a serious note, there are two themes. One is listen to your body for feedback - is it OK on fuel, and water? Is the pace too fast or too slow? The other theme is keep the nervous system in proper condition. That is when BINGO comes for me. There must be a certain level of excitement, agitation, and rhythm throughout the race, otherwise the form becomes inefficient, or you just plain go to sleep, and end up running slower.

From Jon on Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 22:17:37

Think? We are supposed to think during our 26 mile run? Guys don't think! We just grunt, sniff, and dream of hunting and food. Or hunting food. In other words, our primal instincts.

Well today was a cold and rainy day but it felt really nice to run in.  I decided that i was going to run fast today and see how fast i can go.  So it wasn't way fast but i felt good about it.

I ran 3.6 miles in 32 minutes.  which according to the calculater is 8.8 minute miles!

I missed running with Stacey and Bethany.  I can't believe they forgot about me.  HOW RUDE!  just kidding :)  but we'll have to run some next week.

From MichelleL on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 16:07:40

Congratulations on your first week of running. You are showing alot of dedication for your first week!

I always tell people if they run 6 days a week for three weeks they will be hooked. Maybe next week will be your first week to do six days, then we can test if it actually takes three weeks for you. For myself, after having my babies or other breaks off, I found running to the more enjoyable once I hit that three week mark.

I can tell you what I think the most about when I run -- running! When you get truly addicted then you think about running quite a bit, during your run, after your run, you might dream about running (though I don't wish the last one on you).

Welcome to the blog!

From Cody on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 19:01:35

What happened to Ultimate? Too rainy? Sub 9 min miles is pretty impressive. According to the Cody calculator (TM) (not affiliated with the Sasha calculator and way less accurate) you could run a flat 5K right now in 23:01.

From Lybi on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 19:50:44

Whoa! That is major fastness! Especially on a training run and for just starting! Your little girl is going to have a lot of talent between you and Jon!

From Mik'L on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 22:42:44

Yeah- that is fast! I knew you were going to be like that! You Logan girls are pretty impressive getting out in the nasty weather!

From Bethany on Sun, Oct 21, 2007 at 12:48:43

Way to go Marci! You smoked me for sure!

I am excited to see you get better and better. You are going to give Jon a run for his money. ha

We definitely missed you and both felt terrible not having you with us. But looks like you did better without us slowing you down!

From Stacy on Sun, Oct 21, 2007 at 14:49:40

Wow! In my dreams I only run 10 min miles. Bethany is probably right that we would have slowed you down. We still missed you, though, and are the appropriate amount of upset with ourselves for forgetting.

Yeah, that's right. Great run today! Thanks for going at my pace (I'm pretty sure that even with the stroller you could have run faster than me).

From Bethany on Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 21:42:51

How does Jon feel about you being on the blog for just over one week and having twice the amounts of visits as he has in more than a month?

From Jon on Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 23:22:12

Hey, watch it James. It's not twice the visits- only 20% more!

Sasha, how does your calculator work? Are you sure it didn't switch mine with Marci's?

From Cody on Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 23:31:08

I think it estimates how many people WILL visit in a month based off of the rate people are looking at the page. Kind of a ..if this continues at this rate, you will hit X number of visits in a month. (IMHO)

From Jaxon on Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 23:32:19

From Jon on Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 23:47:12

From Jon on Wed, Oct 31, 2007 at 18:49:09

Mik'L, they are hard core. But marci makes them harder by running in place the whole time. Nuts.

From Michelle on Fri, Nov 02, 2007 at 12:49:29

I used to do them all the time they are kinda fun. When my youngest daughter was about 3-4 she would do them with me too, it was really cute!

From Bethany on Fri, Nov 02, 2007 at 15:40:32

So the next two weeks i pretty much have no excuse for not running.  I am in Florida right now with Jon and the weather is beautiful.  Jon works all day and i am at the condo playing with Kinley.  I don't have a car so i can't use the excuse that i have to run errands.  We have a maid so i don't have to clean.  All i do all day is go to the beach, swim in the pool, watch movies, eat, read books, look at fastrunningblog.com.  I ran this morning at 9am and the weather was 75.  too good to be true!

I ran with Jon today.  We ran about 4 miles and most of it on the beach...It was pretty hard running on the sand especially with Jon pushing a stroller...We ran a 10 minute pace which i was impressed since the sand probably slowed us down a bit.  My legs were so tierd by the end, it was a great workout.  Jon was so great to run with especially because now i know where most of the bathrooms on Cocoa Beach are (he had to point them out to me).

word of advice: NEVER RUN BEHIND JON. (it stinks)

From Michelle on Tue, Nov 06, 2007 at 21:18:03

Sounds lovely! You can never get enough beach days in my opinion! I bank them and then use them mentally for the days of winter when I hate being out in the cold. Thats a pretty fast clip for running in the sand!

Sounds like you were just getting warmed up!! Good job adding on by your self! Cute picture too!

Good job Marci! Sounds like you had your first little taste of a runner's high.

You're picture is so cute. My little guys were less than impressed with being on Santa's lap when they were really little. My little two year-old looked right up into his eyes and said "put down, put down, put down!"

I had a great time running with you. Hopefully we can keep it up through the winter! It really makes the run a million times more enjoyable for me :)

I like "amazingly fast." Great description. I think the most i have done is "predictable fast" but usually "consistently slow". You are made for running

Ran 3 miles in the rain today.  It was a warm 45 degrees out.  It is sad that that feels warm to me now.  Mckinley and I were soaking wet when we got home but she was a good sport about it.  It even started hailing pretty bad for a few minutes but we took cover in the Post Office. so no fear!

Good job, honey! Did Kinley get cold with the rain?

Rain and hail in December- what are we coming to???

At least the IF will have snow!

Nice job running in the weather. I personally enjoy it, but I know I'm in the minority there. McKinley is going to be one tough cookie!

Today is a great day.  It is friday and Jon woke up and said "i am not going to work"  So he stay home with us.  The best part was that i got to get a run in this morning which is my favorite time to run.  We got lots of snow yesterday, it made it a little more difficult to run in the snow.  I was hoping the whole time i wouldn't hit a slippery spot.  I only did once...an old lady even laughed at me as i tryed to catch my balance.  I was lucky that i didn't fall. :)

So as i was running i was thinking how nice the weather is-- it wasn't too cold outside but then i ran by a sign that said it was 24 degrees.  That is sad when i think that is warm...gotta love Logan weather.

So now with all this snow it is going to be difficult to take Mckinley running in her stroller...i will have to go at night.  Well we are going to Idaho Falls...it will be have other nice things to look at besides the city of Providence!

Good job getting out in the snow and cold!! I wimped out and endured the treadmill, but it would have been more fun outside!! (can't wait for Chirstmas and get some better warm running clothes!!)

You are so brave to go out in the snow! I am such a wimp about the cold. Good job on the miles and on catching yourself before you fell!

Ran 2 easy miles today with my sister.  She was dang good company!  We got all bundles up in our fleece and winter coats and endured the 15 degree coldness.  Then of coarse we went shopping!

Ran 3.2 miles in a blizzard.  My sister Amy and I went running...we ran to Wendy's Restuarant to by our dad a gift card for Christmas...That is about how creative we are!  It was sooo snowy that would couldn't see very far ahead of us and our face was stinging with the snowing hitting it and the wind.  By the time we got home our faces were bright pink and numb.   At least they were numb so we couldn't feel the snow and wind by the end. :) It was a fun run though. I didn't realize how hard it is to run in snow just a few inches deep.

So as we were running, minding our own business..Jon ran up behind us and scared us half to death.  I guess he gave us a ten minute head start and was going to try and catch up with us.  He followed our foot prints but didn't see us for a while.  He ended up getting lost in some neighborhood and turned the opposite way we went.  He was about to give up but found our tracks again and saw some WAY HOT girls up in the distant and knew it had to be us.  He caught us and scared us!

Ran about 5 miles today which is about the longest i have ran since before Kinley was born.  I don't know if it was the smartest thing to do since i haven't ran the last few days but oh well.  My knee was sore by the end but we survived!

Ran the first mile and a half with Jon and my lungs were hurting like crazy from the cold...then we ran to community park where Jon and i split and we both ran around it in opposite directions.  We gave fives when we passes each other.  He even whistles at my once.  How romantic   Blah!

Ran around community 3 times which was about 2 and a half miles.  The last little bit we ran in the snow that was about to our knees..i thought i was going to die..it was a dang good work out! Then we ran home which another mile and a half.  Time was 55 minutes.

Congratulations Marci! A new distance record--and with knee deep snow, and a guy whistling at you no less. You're one tough chica!

From Michelle on Sun, Dec 30, 2007 at 23:41:20

Marci, what are you talking about? I have never ran a marathon.. I'm just trying to live up to some of those great runners on the blog like you!!!

Ran 2 miles today which was a little less then i wanted but my knee has been in pain since my last friday run.  I wish i could be running with stacy and Bethany tonight in the run-they are going to do awesome!

My parents bought way too much good food for tonight...so i better get a run in tomorrow.  If only i didn't have knees my runs could be so much better. This is my excuse. :)

Thanks for letting me run with your husband, it has been great having the running partner. Sounds like he needed the run before tonight's event at your parents house.

BTW, do you or your folks know Nephi Gold who lives in the same culdesac? Great guy, fantastic runner.

Happy New Year.

We definitely missed you. We'll just have to make sure that we get some more runs in this winter and beyond.
